The principles of water ultrafiltration

Ultrafiltration is one of the most effective technologies for purifying drinking water. It eliminates microbiological impurities without altering the natural composition of the water, offering a reliable, long-lasting solution.

Ultrafiltration is based on a microporous membrane (0.01 to 0.1 micron) that retains bacteria (99.999999%), viruses (99.999%), microplastics and other suspended particles. Unlike reverse osmosis, this technology requires no electricity and does not reject any water.

However, it is important to note that it does not filter out chemical pollutants dissolved in the water, such as nitrates, pesticides or heavy metals. To ensure complete filtration, we recommend combining it with activated carbon.

Ultrafiltration, for whom?

Ultrafiltration offers a simple, effective solution for purifying water. It is perfectly suited to humanitarian operations, daily use in the home or the needs of itinerant travellers.

Our ORISA® water purifier uses a 0.01 micron ultrafiltration membrane and is used in a variety of contexts:

ORISA®, a high-performance water filter thanks to its ultrafiltration membrane

At Fonto de vivo, we have designed the ORISA® filter. Its ultrafiltration membrane gives it high filtration performance that lasts. The membrane has a filtration capacity of 20,000 litres, operates without electricity and incorporates a backwash system to extend its life. The membrane is also interchangeable.

Tested and validated by the WHO and Institut Pasteur, the ORISA® water filter guarantees access to healthy water everywhere, all the time.

Ultrafiltration and ecology: our commitment

Unlike plastic bottles, which generate waste, ultrafiltration is an environmentally-friendly alternative. What's more, it doesn't waste water, as is the case with reverse osmosis, which can reject up to 70% of the volume treated.

What's more, all our ORISA® ultrafiltration membranes and purifiers are designed and manufactured in France, guaranteeing local, responsible, high-quality production.
